I specialize in helping libraries and nonprofits create powerful strategic plans. A strategic plan is a vitally important guiding document that sets and communicates an organization’s vision and goals. A good strategic plan can be an effective tool to help advocate for the organization with municipalities, funders, and other stakeholders.

I can make strategic planning easier by guiding you through the process, developing engagement activities that collect the information you need, and helping you craft goals and objectives that both your staff and board can get behind.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Engagement is all about listening and connecting with your stakeholders – whether they are community members, elected officials, or customers. I can help you figure out who your stakeholders are and how to most effectively reach them. I can provide strategic advice and training – or lead the process from start to finish using IAP2 methods and tools. With honesty, trust, and integrity, it is possible to have genuine, meaningful engagement that will help you understand the perspectives of your stakeholders.

Examples of engagement activities I’ve implemented include:

• Facilitating community events and engaging with attendees to solicit feedback.
• Drop-in open houses where people can view displays and talk to subject mater experts about the project.
• One-on-one interviews to gather in-depth or confidential information.
• Intercept surveys at a facility such as public libraries and recreation centres.
• Door-to-door campaigns to engage and inform every resident of a neighbourhood.
• Focus groups for key stakeholders (in person and virtual).
• Online and paper surveys.

Providing clear written documentation and reporting is a key component of all my services. I can craft both plain language information for public audiences and corporate strategic documents. I’ve developed high-quality collaterals for a variety of engagement activities and produced attention-getting reports.
